Stamp Out Hunger!

LETTER CARRIERS’ ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE SET FOR MAY 13, 2017 THROUGHOUT THE NATION

Donations Critical as Thousands Join Hunger Rolls;

Effort Will Help Feed Needy Families in All 50 States

The National Association of Letter Carriers will hold its food drive on Saturday, May 13th. Lancaster postal employees will again help Stamp Out Hunger! across America with your help.  Now in its 25th year, the Stamp Out Hunger! effort is the nation's largest single-day food drive. Last year letter carriers collected 70.6 million pounds of food from postal customers across the nation bringing the total donations over 1.4 billion pounds of food collected along postal routes since the drive began 24 years ago.

To help Stamp Out Hunger! in Lancaster this year, simply leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal next to your mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery on May 13th.  Please do not donate expired food.  Food items should be in non-breakable containers, such as boxes and cans.  Local letter and rural carriers will then collect donations from homes and deliver them to HOPE in Lancaster.

United Way of Lancaster County will be coordinating community volunteers for the food drive. Last year, Lancaster collected over 17,000 pounds of food which benefited HOPE in Lancaster’s food pantry. Volunteers are needed on Saturday, May 13th from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Post Office. To volunteer or for additional information, please contact United Way of Lancaster County at 283-8923 or liveunited@uwaylcsc.org.
